What it does
When digested, garlic may help lower blood cholesterol and blood pressure and prevent blood clots and perhaps certain types of cancer. Freshly crushed cloves contain the antimicrobial compound allicin which can help fight both internal and topical infections.
How It’s Taken
For Internal use, Freshly crushed cloves of garlic ( one per day ) or standardized, entericcoated capsules are most effective. For external use, apply the pulp from a freshly crushed clove.
Caution
Large amounts may cause gastrointestinal distress, heartburn and flatulence. In rare cases it may cause an allergic reaction. If you are taking blood thinning medications or asprin, consult your doctor before taking garlic preparations.
